Geochronology and detrital zircons sources from the Sierra Albarrana Domain (SW Iberian Massif)

This study compiles the U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology of metasedimentary, migmatitic granitic rocks Sierra Albarrana Domain, based on data recently published by authors together with other bibliographic sources. Maximum depositional ages (MDA) magmatic metamorphic events are discussed. MDAs suggest that this domain was deposited during middle Cambrian (ca. 511) zoned zircon grains indicate main tectono-magmatic event is late (granite emplacement; 481 ± 2 Ma) to early Ordovician (migmatization; 478 Ma). The 40Ar-39Ar evidence a Cambro-Ordovician 482 another related Variscan Orogeny 337-392 most important detrital source corresponds (535-515 Ma), probably developed initial episodes Paleozoic rifting affecting N margin Gondwana. remaining Mesoproterozoic, Paleoproterozoic Archean would have been contributed basement and/or older continental crust recycled in western sections Gondwana margin. We part autochthonous section Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) derived from Saharan Metacraton Tuareg Shield.
